I wouldn’t recommend it only because it doesn’t have the troubleshooter function, and the screen is quite small. It reads and clears codes, performs a fair amount of bi-directional controls, and has fairly accurate data PIDs. The Ethos is ok for what it is, it was my first scan tool.

If you do buy used, the first three will still have updates and support through 2025 according to my diagnostic rep. Pricing is similar to how they had the old Solus, Modis and Verus, but now it’s the Apollo, the Triton, and the Zeus. It comes with a ton of stuff for the price, but I don’t personally have any experience with itĪs for snappy they’re still working on getting their diagnostic section updated cause they’re starting to switch over from the older models to the new intelligent diagnostic models. If you’re able to spend a little more, they just released their newest tablet recently the Maxisys Ultra The Autel is a good tool, and has an add on scope.

so those are other options in my mind as well.ĭanner only recently started getting into the Autel, he’s always recommended the Snap On Verus, and SMA has been using the Bosch ADS 625 for a few months now. I know scannerdanner is fond of his autel, and sma is fond of his otc i think. Only two i've see are the ethos and vantage, which isnt obd2 by the looks of it. I was looking at snap-ons website, and I don't know if they just dont have any stock of them or what, but they only list accessories for most of their scan tools at the moment on their website. I'm honestly not opposed to used when it comes to something good, although having payments would make life hella easier right now, instead of dropping out a huge wad of cash. I should have been more clear, so my bad. Sorry if I sounded dickish, I've just been getting a whole lot of the "well youre new" at work too the last 2 weeks lol. Ok, if you know what you’re doing that’s different, all you said was you were a new tech looking for a scan tool, and I just like to make sure people don’t go down the wrong path, cause I’ve seen it too many times.
